Population and Public Health is responsible for the immunization of children in grade 1, 6 and 8 as well as follow-up when there is a case of a vaccine preventable disease in a classroom or school. To do their work, public health staff review student immunization records and enter vaccines given in school into the electronic provincial immunization registry called Panorama.
Panorama is a secure electronic health record system designed to store and record immunization related information. Confidential immunization information is only available to authorized health care workers such as members of the public health team, nurse practitioners and physicians across the province using secure networks.
